SatNav Advice
  • May 2010
I need to get a SatNav. Any advice? My total experience is that I had a loan of a Garmin for a while and was pleased with it's performance.

I have two Garmin SatNavs and also have a 60csx hand held unit (for geocaching and outdoor use). All work great.
The SatNavs are a Nuvi 360 and a Nuvi 20something (can' remember the model but is the newer model of the 360). I imagine there are newer models out now though.

If you choose a Garmin then I would go for one with traffic info and voice turning instructions included.

An activity that gets Technos away from their computers. Take a look at www.geocaching.com. I've been 'doing it' for a few years now and find it very enjoyable.

Do you need a new phone also? If so look into the Nexus One phone. That comes with Sat Nav for the UK now.

Haven't used it yet, but i will eventually (once i've stopped messing around with all the other stuff!)

No, but I have had this suggestion made. Can work out a lot more expensive, particularly as I only use PAYG phones.

SatNav + RAC Traffic Alerts = iPhone. Worked well going down to Manchester last week and avoided all heavy traffic :)
