I'm confused on a Googles SERPs result....

I recently did a quick site for a lady which is all done and dusted.
But i checked on Google today to see if they come up in the SERPs and to be nosey on what they have been doing. I find they do come up for their business name but..... the description and title used on the site does not reflex what is displayed in Google's listings. I thought the description was from DMOZ but it is more like it's from some sort of wiki site as it talks about the scientific description of the products they sell. Also there is no Cached link either to see what Google has actually seen

Has anyone else come across this?

If you want to know the site PM me

If it's a new site and it was caches while you were building it then google may have picked up a description from somewhere else as you say. It's not uncommon for sites to be cached by one datacenter and then take time to be picked up by the others so it will look like there is no cache. How old is the site??

    about 3 weeks old.

I also notitce that if search for the name without spaces then it comes up with a different description. Maybe your right, and that i have caught it when the datacenters are playing catch up with each other.
Just seems weird that the description is from wikipedia, when the only thing that was being displayed before i uploaded the site was a holding play from 123reg. (Which i might add is what looks like beeing displayed when i seach for the name without spaces)

3 weeks is the answer then. Give it 3 months and it will sort itself out assuming it's all setup correctly.

I use 123-reg and have seen some odd things over the years with domains and descriptions. Some are real bastards to get sorted because as you say g pulls a random description from who knows where. I suspect alot of it is due to g pushing people to use spare domains for adsense which will look like an empty site to googlebot and may trigger some for of auto description generation to produce a good description - if your site was spidered before good content was added then it may have been identified as an adsense type page.
