TrueSize - Let customers see your product in its... true size
  • October 2009
Looks like a new start up with promise.

    http://www.truesize.nl/en/

Basically, what this site does is offer either a plug in for the most popular ecommerce carts, or a bespoke plugin, to show customers the true size of the product you are selling. Using a credit card you match it up to the image of a credit card on the screen, and once set, all images will be displayed in it's true size.
Lots of benefits to be had here, and looks very interesting. The only thing i am wondering is how difficult is it to set up the images of your products.
Could be a ball ache if you have to re-shoot all your images
Should know more once they have replied to my email.

I swear a bottle of Grolsch isn't that fat. And that lioness has big long whiskers, at least twice the length of my cats'. This is a very cool feature though, and would be great for any site that sells model replicas, railways, cars, etc.

All product images remain on their current location in a web shop, but dimensions can be added. However, we need to know exactly what you are measuring, since most images have some white-space around the product. Below is a screenshot of the image measurement process. The white-space is automatically calculated by our application, which is exactly correct for 95% of product images. For the other 5% you will need to adjust the crop box manually.

Truesize - thanks for that. Since you have popped up, I noticed that on larger screens (27" 1920x1200 in my case) the smallest credit card is still bigger than a real one. Unlikely to be a problem for most shoppers, but one for the future.

but sadly, its too expensive. ;)

i hope you have a patent on 'using a physical thing of standard size held up to the screen to allow an image to be dynmically resized to show its real world dimensions'.

becasue your lightbox tech, doesnt look so advanced to copy ;)

Wow, you have a large screen :)
Thanks for mentioning this, I added your screen size/resolution combination. Should work now.
